Best First Path Before You Email

Many questions are faster to resolve through the page that already documents the assumption or rule behind the result. If you are checking whether SalaryLabs is trustworthy or whether a number is supposed to be directional, use this order first:

If your issue still looks real after that, email the exact page URL, the inputs you used, and the result you saw.

What We Cannot Help With

SalaryLabs is a free calculator tool, not a licensed financial or tax advisory service. We cannot provide personalized tax advice, help with specific payroll disputes, or verify individual pay stub calculations. For those needs, we recommend:

  • A licensed CPA or tax professional for personalized tax questions
  • The US Department of Labor Wage and Hour Division for wage disputes and overtime questions
  • The IRS website for official tax information, forms, and filing guidance
  • Your state's Department of Labor for state-specific wage and hour questions

Frequently Asked Questions About SalaryLabs

Are SalaryLabs calculators really free?
Yes — all tools on SalaryLabs are free with no signup, subscription, or paywall. The project is currently self-funded. SalaryLabs has applied to Google AdSense, but ads are not active and the site earns no AdSense revenue. We do not sell user data, and calculator inputs are processed locally in your browser.
How often is the data updated?
We review and update all tax rates, FICA wage bases, FLSA thresholds, and salary benchmarks at the beginning of each calendar year when the IRS and Bureau of Labor Statistics release updated figures. All current data reflects 2026 rates. If you spot something that looks outdated, please email us.
Can I embed SalaryLabs tools on my website?
We offer embedding arrangements for qualifying publishers, HR platforms, and financial education sites. Contact us at [email protected] with details about your site and intended use case.
What data sources do you use?
Our salary data comes from the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) Occupational Employment and Wage Statistics program. Tax brackets and deductions come from IRS publications. FLSA thresholds reflect Department of Labor rulings. Cost of living adjustments use Bureau of Economic Analysis Regional Price Parity data. We link to primary sources in our guides wherever possible.

About SalaryLabs

SalaryLabs is a free online resource providing salary calculators and pay guides for US workers. We are not affiliated with any employer, payroll company, or government agency. Our mission is to give every worker — regardless of income level or financial background — the same clear, accurate information about their compensation that previously required a CPA or HR professional to explain. All tools are free to use with no registration required.

We cover the full spectrum of pay questions: from converting an hourly wage to annual salary, to estimating take-home pay after all federal and state taxes, to understanding whether your salary has kept pace with inflation. Our calculators serve workers across all 50 US states and are also available in Spanish at salarylabs.site/es/herramientas.
