AI Use Disclosure

SalaryLabs publishes two distinct types of content: calculator tools that run deterministic formulas, and written guides that explain public salary, tax, and career data. This page explains how artificial intelligence is — and is not — used in each.

Calculator Tools: No AI in the Numbers

Every calculator on SalaryLabs runs deterministic JavaScript functions. Given the same inputs, every visitor gets the same output. The formulas are written and maintained by a human developer and reference published government data (IRS Publication 15-T, SSA wage-base announcements, BLS OEWS tables, state revenue department rates). No AI inference is involved in generating calculator outputs.

The exceptions are the Negotiation Script and Job Offer Comparison tools, which call a Cloudflare AI Worker to generate text — specifically, to produce a tailored negotiation script or compare two compensation packages. These are clearly labeled as AI-generated content in the tool UI. The AI only generates the language; it does not generate or alter salary benchmarks, tax figures, or formula logic.

Written Guides: AI as a Drafting Aid

Some SalaryLabs guide copy was drafted using AI language models, then reviewed, revised, and published by a human editor. AI-assisted drafting helps with structural clarity, grammar, and translation of technical tax and compensation concepts into plain language. Every guide is reviewed for accuracy before publication. Numerical claims, tax rates, and salary figures are always sourced from primary government data — never from AI inference.

If a guide was AI-assisted, the byline at the top of the page notes this fact. All guides are ultimately the editorial responsibility of the named author.

What AI Does Not Do on SalaryLabs

Why This Matters

The most important numbers on SalaryLabs — tax brackets, Social Security wage bases, occupational wage percentiles — are published by the IRS, SSA, and BLS respectively. These are public government data. SalaryLabs makes them accessible through calculators and guides. AI cannot improve on these numbers, and SalaryLabs does not use AI to fabricate or adjust them.

For compensation comparisons and negotiation scripts, AI adds genuine value by personalizing the language to the user's specific situation. That value depends on the human editorial layer that ensures the output is accurate, honest, and not misleading.
